Liberty International is a major UK FTSE 100 listed property company, with shareholders’ funds of £4.7 billion and property investments of £8.6 billion, of which UK regional shopping centres comprise 75 per cent. Assets of the group under control or joint control amount to £11.0 billion. Liberty International converted into a UK Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) on 1 January 2007.
It is the UK’s third largest REIT, and in the top 25 REITs globally. The conversion to REIT status brings substantial benefits – including tax transparency for shareholders and significantly increased flexibility for asset management.
Liberty International aims to produce outstanding long-term returns for shareholders through capital and income growth. The group focuses on premier property assets, particularly shopping centres and other retail, which have high potential, scarcity value and require active management and creativity.
Liberty International is engaged in three principal activities:
Capital Shopping Centres (CSC)

Square, Newcastle, St David’s, Cardiff and Wexstgate, Oxford, CSC
has value-enhancing projects at many of its other centres.
