Liberty International PLC ranks as a leader in the property sector in Corporate Responsibility (CR) management.

Corporate Responsibility has always been high on the agenda of our company and reflects our commitment to sustainability in the community. As a result, the company rates as a top 100 company by Business in the Community in their Corporate Responsibility Index and is included in the leading FTSE4Good, JSE SRI Indices and Dow Jones Indexes.
Following consultation during regular engagement with stakeholders, we revised the production of our CR Report in 2007. The full report became web-based while remaining structured to meet the needs of interested groups, including shareholders, employees, local authorities, consultants and retailers. The web version contains complete data of special interest to stakeholders wanting a deeper understanding of our CR credentials. A printed summary is also produced for those wanting an overview of our activities, available as a download or hard copy.

In 2008 we recycled more of the waste generated at our shopping centres than was sent to landfill. The focus for 2009 is to maintain and improve on these recycling rates, whilst working with retailers to encourage not only further recycling, but to work increasingly towards waste minimisation.

Together with our CR partner, Catch 22, during 2008, we extended the successful ‘’Say Yes’’ challenge to include for the first time children of primary school age. Our Covent Garden London team, working with staff and puplils of St. Joseph’s Primary School, provided support and facilities to enable a ground-breaking project to take place.
